WBF at the Edison Bird Festival

The Washington Brant Foundation participated in the Edison Bird Festival on February 9th and 10th with a booth display ran by Joanne Keller, Don Salter, and Ben Welton. Many people visited after the chicken parade on Saturday morning. Our live mascot, Foreman, entertained children at close range.

On Sunday Maynard Axelson showed slides and video detailing Brant and Snow Goose banding with USGS in Alaska last summer.

WA Brant Foundation presents a seminar with Gary Hanson

The Washington Brant Foundation is very excited to announce a free seminar we are adding to our 2013 Puget Sound Open weekend as part of our mission of education.

Gary Hanson of Sterling Heights, MI will be our presenter.

Gary is a true water-fowler who's spent his life hunting Lake Saint Clair and the Flats. He has been hand carving decoys for over 30 years, begining his carving career in 1970. He's as prolific in the world of gunning decoys as one can be with dozens of best of show wins to his name. A few of them at our own Puget Sound Open including winning the state Ducks Unlimited decoy contest for the past two years.

During this seminar, Gary will be painting a mallard drake and will be demonstrating his unique scrub-painting style that has made his decoys so attractive to judges, collectors, and especially other ducks.

This seminar will be held on Friday, May 10th from 5pm-9pm at Holiday Sports in Burlington, which is also the site of the 2013 Puget Sound Open.

The seminar is free but we do have limited space so please register to reserve your spot. Contact Kurt Benson to register:
